Generic Name: Cefadroxil
Cefadril (Cefadroxil) is a semi-synthetic cephalosporin antibiotic which has a broad bactericidal action against Gram-positive as well as Gram-negative bacteria such as : Staphylococci ( including coagulase positive, coagulase-negative and penicillinase-producing strains), B.hemolytic streptococci, Streptococcus pneumonia, E.coli, Klebsiella species and Proteus mirabilis.
Cefadril is rapidly absorbed from the GIT. Following single doses of 500 mg and 1 gm, average peak serum concentrations were 16 and 28 g / ml, respectively within 1.5-2 hrs. About 90% of the drug is excreted unchanged in the urine within 24 hrs.

Cefadril is indicated in the treatment of :
- Upper respiratory tract infections: ; Otitis media,pharyngitis& Tosilitis.
- Lower respiratory tract infections :Bronchitis& broncopneumonia.
- Skin and soft tissue infections.
- Urinary tract infections.
Cefadril Capsules: Each capsule contains Cefadroxil Monohydrate USP equivalent to 500 mg Cefadroxil. Blister packs of 12 capsules & hospital packs different sizes are available.
Cefadril Tablets: Each tablet contains Cefadroxil Monohydrate USP equivalent to 1 gm Cefadroxil. Blister packs of 10 tablets.

Cefadril for Oral Suspension: Each 5 ml of reconstituted suspension contains Cefadroxil MonohydrateUSP equivalent to 250 mg Cefadroxil. Bottles of 60 ml suspension.
Cefadril for Oral Suspension: Each 5 ml of reconstituted suspension contains Cefadroxil MonohydrateUSP equivalent to 500 mg Cefadroxil. Bottles of 60 ml suspension.
